Child Abuse
Facts
Teaching our children “stranger danger”
is not protection enough. About 95% of victims
know their perpetrators. Source: CCPCA, 1992.
Almost half (49%) of the offenders of victims
under the age of six (6) were family members.
(Snyder, 1996, 10)
The typical child sex offender molests an average
of 117 children, most of who do not report the
offence. Source: National Institute of Mental
Health, 1988.
About 60% of the male survivors sampled report
at least one of their perpetrators to be female.
Source: Mendel, 1993.
Sexual abuse is still the most under reported
form of child-maltreatment because of the secrecy
or “conspiracy of silence” that so
often characterizes these cases. According to
Gilbert, (1988, 93)
Speaking Engagements
and Seminars
We are able to develop seminars targeted to a
specific audience.
Most often we will explore:
- The prevalence of sexual abuse
- The warning signs
- What to do if you suspect your child has
been abused,
- The legal process, and
- The healing process for not only the child
but also the parent.
